Announcing something new: The Secret Society of Happy Lawyers. Julie Fleming Brown of Life at the Bar and I have been talking about this for a few months now. We will not tell you much about it yet. Instead we would like to hear what is conjured up in your mind, what you imagine, when you hear the Society's name. Say to yourself Secret Society of Happy Lawyers. Quickly now, what ideas and notions are in your head?
I want to thank Pamela Gail Johnson, founder of the Secret Society of Happy People. I met Pamela several years ago here in Denver when I attended a booksigning at Barnes & Noble for her book Don't Even Think of Raining On My Parade. While our Society will be unlike hers in mission and purpose, I applaud Pamela on her dedication, creativity and extraordinary tenacity over the nearly 10 years of her Society's existence.
When Julie and I were brainstorming, I told her of the Secret Society of Happy People. Each of us kept coming back to the idea of Secret Society of Happy Lawyers so I e-mailed Pamela and asked her if she minded if we used that name. She was most gracious and enthusiastic, and even thanked me for asking.
So to those out there in the blogosphere, I again ask what happens in your imagination upon reading of the new Secret Society of Happy Lawyers? Please write your images and thoughts -- whimsy, even wisdom -- in the comments below. Or e-mail Julie or me. Or wax wild on your own blog. Let your inventiveness and fantasies know no restraint.
I LOVE the Secret Society of Happy Lawyers!!
I've been a member since 2004 without even knowing it because I'm mediating and writing and teaching and creating my own thing from the ground up -- Vickie Inc.
I try to spread this newfound career joy wherever I go simply by encouraging others to follow the one or two aspects of their legal practice that they love -- the thing that makes them want to get up in the morning and begin again.
I guess my best thought on this idea is that it should be the OPEN Secret Society of Happy Lawyers.
Spread the joy!

A secret society? Looks like you've let the secret out. Perhaps it will encourage others to smile and be happy and share their happiness with others. I'd love to see some happy lawyer pictures/logos. A smile says a lot, so I guess any smiling lawyer would be a GREAT logo for this fun society.
