I have seen the talented and engaging Bob Burg speak several times, and what I recall most vividly is his memory feat. He showed up at each event before any of the attendees were present, greeted each one as they arrived, and introduced himself while learning each person's name.
Before he gave his talks, he had every person in the room stand up and only sit back down after Bob had recalled his or her name. Each time I have seen him do this, he has remembered the names of everyone in a whole roomful of people. Click to watch Bob recalling names.
He then goes on to say that he was able to accomplish this astounding display of memory because he used a system. He assures us, if we have a system, we too can accomplish the astounding. He now has everyone's attention and admiration; he then teaches the audience his system of networking and business development.
Is there something you've been wanting to accomplish that has seemed unattainable? Have you tried systematizing (i.e., structuring, designing, organizing) it? Perhaps you might want to take a page from one of Bob Burg's books and find or develop a system for each of your goals. I am defining system as an "organized and coordinated method; a procedure."
Of course, you don't have to use Bob's systems because your goals may not be what he addresses.
Just for the rest of this season of summer, commit to a system that matches your aspirations and give it a try. Let me know how it works.
