Grill Your Goals
What do you want? Each day, through your mind floats images of things for which you wish. You fancy this; you are interested in that. Maybe you would like some of this objective, or you mildly aspire to that goal. This and that drift through the stream of your consciousness.
You may say: “I sort of want to lose weight and exercise and I did so for a few months. And I kind of want to establish a working schedule that will lead to success; even did that for several weeks. And I had a yen to be focused but seemed that only my head and not my energy was involved, so I dropped that. And I recall having these resolutions about being a better person but no one noticed, so why bother.” Lots of lukewarm efforts.
The surefire way to get what you want from this laid-back, relaxed river of wishes is burning, blistering, blazing DESIRE. The fire of desire is what accomplishes your goals. Cool or even tepid wishing will not achieve your dreams. You have to boil.
Robert Collier is a master boiler. Read his books and you will be inspired to heat up your goals. If your watery mind is filled with loose objectives, you must apply the heat of desire to generate the steam -- the steam of your will to get what you want. In his book The Secret of the Ages, he says:
If you allow the fires of Desire to burn low, or to become clogged with the ashes of dead and gone things long since exhausted and useless, you will find that you will be in the position of the majority of people who are like tea kettles simmering over a faint fire, and accomplishing nothing.
Aladdin Was Clear
Collier asks what you would want if you had a wishing ring. He adds that few people know what they REALLY want.
How can a Genie in the bottle know what to give you if you are not cloudless and clear about your
wishes? Once you have a sharp idea:
The Genie-of-your Mind can give you power over circumstances, health, happiness and prosperity. And all you need to put it to work is an earnest, intense desire.
Let’s move beyond simmer. Let’s roll. Let’s boil royal.
And Today . . .
Today catch something from that stream of floating wishes and wants. Hook it with your heart and pull it out to examine it. Is it something you really want? If not, throw it back and hook another wish.
When you find something you truly want, hook it and cook it.
Write down every detail of the wish. Write down every feature and facet. Consume it, guzzle it, and devour it. See it sharply, hear it acutely, feel it intensely. If you truly want it, you can immerse yourself in the imagining.
You are now beginning to heat it up with desire. You are cooking, not cooling. You are way past lukewarm. You feel the fire of desire and your will is steaming.
Now, and only now, have you ignited the Genie-of-your-Mind. It has its marching orders and you cannot fail. You have set into motion the irrefutable rule. A desire lit with fire is matchless.
You are burning now. You are a sizzling success!
